When her brother sees the ghost of their mother and a prophecy is given via two tarot cards, The Hierophant and Seven of Swords, he decides to sell the pub. The decision about what path to take in her life is taken out of her hands and Henri’s.

Henri stood outside the bar, knowing she’d be walking along the sidewalk any minute. A schoolboy pleasure rumbled deep within his chest. She’d accepted his invitation. Anticipation coursed through him. Despite longevity and the sheer number of women he’d entertained in his past, a fresh intoxication infused his senses.
He leaned against the rough bark of the oak tree and waited. He’d changed suits at least twice before he settled on the casual attire of polo and trousers, but scoffed at his appearance. He preferred the pomp and circumstances of the ornately detailed clothing of his century, the garments of a knight immediately indicated his status. However, Tori said she’d be taking a break from work and she always dressed informally, he wanted to make her feel comfortable. Oddly enough, he enjoyed the soft cotton feel of the pants. He could move around without constriction, and they kept the cold air out.
Her black tight fitting V-neck top and solid skin tight black pants enhanced her perfect figure. Her portfolio didn’t note exercise, like common people did working out with weights at the gym or running as fast as possible on the street. No, she perfected her skills with sword fighting and the training kept her fit.
She gracefully walked out from the Dark Shadows entrance and his gut twisted into knots.
